There is a strange far-off
land that is inhabited by people who believe that all statements are
either absolutely true or absolutely false. They also do not allow
strangers to enter their lands under pain of death. One day an explorer
stumbles upon this strange land. He is promptly captured and taken to
their chief. The explorer is informed that he will be allowed to make a
statement, the chief will then determine if the statement is true or
false. If he determines that it is true, the explorer will die a swift
and painless death by poison; however if he decides that the statement
is false the explorer will suffer a slow and painful death by fire. The
explorer makes his statement which instantly causes the chief to scream
out in anguish and order the explorer to be escorted to the border and
released. What did the explorer say? There is only one possible answer. |
